Inflammation

Did you know that 7 of 10 of the top killers in the U.S. are chronic diseases that are created by inflammation: cancer, heart disease, strokes, and Alzheimer’s? Every one of these has inflammation as its basis. Most of these are being created by auto-immune problems. These are in epidemic proportions and are created by the body reacting to environmental factors. A HUGE factor is the very foods that we eat.
Another big take home is that it is not just one system that is involved. There are multiple systems involved: People don’t just have an inflammatory problem or an immune problem. They are not isolated events. If someone has inflammatory/immune dysregulation going on, they are also going to have hormonal and neurological crossover as well. The internal body systems are all tied together and dependent on each other. If one is having problems, so will the others. It’s kind of the same as someone who takes B12 for example. If they take too much B12 for too long, it will throw off the other B vitamins inside the body and create problems. The systems need to have a balance. If your nervous system isn’t working right, neither will your immune system or endocrine (hormone) system.
Many of you have asked me what the next step is for most people after they do my Blood Sugar Boot Camp. Obviously, every patient will have their own challenges based on the findings in
their bloodwork. However, with most of my patients, one of the keys is to work on “Gut Repair”. Most people (the vast majority) have what is called a “Leaky Gut”. Foods that we eat and other environmental toxins can create damage to the inner mucosal membrane that lines the stomach and small intestine (Gut). The gut has tight junctions that when damaged get loose. Then, food particles leak out of the G.I. tract and get into the lymphatic system and bloodstream. The particles are seen as foreign to the body by the immune system and people develop symptoms as a result. Some will have asthma. Others will have irritable bowel syndrome, celiac disorder, bloating, gas, diarrhea, breathing difficulty, mucous production such as hacking/coughing, headaches, etc… The list of symptoms is really endless. Different people will have a vast array of symptoms manifest.
