A Few Health Tidbits

Let’s talk about baby aspirin or low dose aspirin therapy. Many people with or without Coronary Artery Disease have been told for years to take a baby aspirin a day even if they have never had a heart attack. The National Institute of Health recently released a study that is now backing off of those recommendations. Low dose aspirin can cause a buildup of uric acid levels which has been determined to be an independent, standalone factor that can cause cardiovascular disease. Some people with high uric acid will develop a painful condition called gout (a form of arthritis). But in this context, one baby aspirin per day can cause uric acid buildup which can cause you to develop cardiovascular disease.
There are fantastic natural methods of thinning the blood and preventing clot formation. I have worked with many cardiovascular disease patients and helped guide them to better and natural health. The real problem with clot formation is inflammation of the inner lining of the blood vessels. When the delicate inner membrane gets damaged, white blood cells, LDL cholesterol along with other factors “plug” the holes and create fatty streaks or plaque. Over time, the inner core of the plaque becomes necrotic (the same thing that happens to your skin after you get bit by a black widow or fiddle back spider), weakens and breaks loose. So, the goal is to work together to get the blood vessels to be less inflamed and less likely to form plaques. If
someone already has plaques, the goal the same but also to help the blood vessels relax so that blood flow moves through the vessels at a fast rate of speed and therefore are less likely to cause plaque. Way better than taking rat poison (Coumadin/Warfarin) in my opinion.
As many of you are aware, I am working with many patients who have other health concerns that are not related to neck pain, low back pain or neuropathy pains. I am going through a 300 hour post doctorate, diplomate certification program to become a Chiropractic Internist. It will take 26 different weekends in faraway states and cities and about 3 years to complete. I am very excited about what I have already learned and the results I am seeing with my patients.
The reason I’m bringing this up is that even for issues such as thyroid, heart (cardiovascular), kidney, liver, gall bladder, autoimmune disease, chronic infections, pancreas (diabetes) and all of the other internal organs that can have health issues, there is often a better and healthier way than to medicate. Many of my patients get so much better with my Programs, they are choosing to utilize my services and selecting me as their primary healthcare physician. I am honored by this and it makes me work even harder to validate their trust in me. All of my patients know that my heart is in this and that my head is in the game when it comes to helping them avoid medications and/or surgery.
Soap Box Moment: Why get your gall bladder cut out if it’s something you need? It is an important organ. Bile is made in the liver. It travels to the gall bladder where it is stored and concentrated up to 10 times. In the gall bladder, bile is made to be more acidic which is what helps you emulsify and digest fat. This is why people who have their gall bladder taken out will have a condition called steatorrhea which is a foul smelling watery diarrhea after eating a fatty meal. Steatorrhea is caused because the digestive system can’t break down the fats without the proper concentration of bile acid.
Last month, I had a new patient start his care on a Monday. His wife said, “We won’t be able to be here for his Wednesday appointment because I am scheduled to have my gall bladder taken out”. She went on to explain that she had gall stones and that her Drs. said that she had to have her gall bladder removed. I described what I do with my Lab Based Clinical Nutrition patients and that I knew I had a chance of helping her keep her gall bladder. I also told her how I have family members who had theirs taken out and wish every day that they hadn’t. She decided to go for it and became my patient. She told me that within 3 days, she felt better than she had felt in a very long time. She went through my 14 Day Blood Sugar Boot Camp. I saw her again yesterday, and she has lost over 20 pounds, her complexion looks better and she said that she feels great. Her husband also went through my nutritional protocol and lost 30 pounds! Both of them are so much healthier and happy.
Another major issue with gall bladder removal is that it causes bile to back up in the liver which causes liver toxicity and congestion. Most people who have had their gall bladder taken out describe that they are really sensitive and have a lot of pain on the right side of their abdomen just up under the rib cage where the gall bladder used to be. That is because the gall bladder sits right beside the liver and when it is gone, the liver keeps making bile. The bile basically collects in that area and remember, bile is acid. Over time, the acidic bile harms and inflames the liver and causes other health problems such as elevations in liver enzymes or even digestive problems.
One last thing about the gall bladder: If you don’t have one, then you most likely are unable to digest and absorb fats as I said above. This can be a contributing factor to nutrient deficiencies of the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. Vitamin A is for the eyes (especially night vision). Vitamin D has profound effects on the body including sleep and anti-cancer properties. Vitamin E helps your blood vessels stay slick so that you are less likely to develop plaques (that can cause a stroke or heart attack) and Vitamin K is involved with how your blood clots but can also be a factor in osteoporosis. So, not being able to digest fats can have far reaching consequences.
I have a nutritional product that helps thin the bile instead of letting it collect and damage the liver. It is specifically designed for people who have had their gall bladder taken out. At least there is good news that something can be done to help most people that is natural and safe. You have just found an easy and natural way to help yourself stay much healthier. I have another product that thins bile in people who still have their gall bladder but they may be having acid reflux or heartburn/other digestive difficulties. Ask for Brooke or Kristina and they will help you. It is all about being healthy and I offer free shipping on orders of over $200.00.
Another example of what I am seeing with my patients is that many people are told that they don’t have a “thyroid” problem based off of normal Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) levels. The reality of the situation is that often times this couldn’t be farther from the truth! The thyroid gland doesn’t produce TSH. TSH is made in the brain and signals the thyroid to produce hormones. The hormones that are produced in the thyroid are converted in the liver and intestines to create biologically active T3 thyroid hormone. So, it’s easy to understand how a person could have “normal” TSH levels on their bloodwork, but have a conversion problem in the liver and intestines that would go unaddressed – and still have “thyroid” symptoms. So many people who are on thyroid medications could either reduce or completely eliminate their meds if they knew what to do to get better conversion of their thyroid hormones at the tissue level. Many come to me who are on thyroid medications and I help them get better naturally. I am also seeing a high incidence of autoimmune hypothyroid such as Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis.
How would you know if it hasn’t been checked? I have seen a lot of bloodwork. However, I haven’t seen thyroglobulin or thyroid peroxidase antibodies checked on a single one of them to date. I include those tests on every single one of the workups I order for my patients. Like I said, how would you know if it hasn’t been checked?
There are natural ways to cope with and help different disease processes in the body. Ways that are natural and healthy, instead of introducing toxic manmade chemicals and poisons to your body or cutting something out like a disc or organ. I believe that God put these tissues and organs in place for a reason and they shouldn’t be tampered with unless it is a life threatening emergency situation.
Thank you for being my patient and letting me be your doctor. I am truly blessed and honored to have been a part of each and every one of your lives and will help you in any way that I can.
